Research in this lab is devoted to understanding the nature of cognition, especially the nature of concepts and reasoning. Some of the topics we investigate include:
- deductive and inductive reasoning
- concepts of individual objects and their histories
- concepts of events
- causal cognition
- mathematical thinking (concepts of numbers, non-Euclidean geometry, and abstract algebra)
- informal argumentation
- autobiographical memory and survey responding
